An Effortless Approach to Deep Meditative Absorption
by Releasing into Stillness

Effortless approach is a way of meditating and developing meditative absorption that emphasizes not using any forceful, willful effort to control the process of meditation. Instead, we nurture certain inner qualities and attitudes which change the way we pay attention and allow our experiences to flow effortlessly from that.

Deep Meditative Absorption is the goal of this type of meditation:
  • A state of mental focus where our mind can dwell peacefully in stillness,
  • Free from outer distractions and inner disturbances,
  • Accompanied by an extraordinary sense of wellbeing in our body and mind, variously described as rapturous, blissfully, happy, or peaceful,
  • And a shift in our psychological sense of time, losing track of the passing of time during meditation

Releasing into Stillness is the key idea and benefit of this effortless approach.
  • Our body is released from unnecessary tensions and contractions, so that it can settle comfortably into its posture.
  • Our mind is released from unnecessary agitation and rumination, so that it can enter into deeper levels of alert stillness.
  • Our heart is released from painful, difficult emotions, so that it can enjoy the full range of joyful, happy feelings.

At my Audio page, you can find a simple guided meditation on the flow of awareness through the different parts of the body  in order to help bring about the release of physical tensions.

Before we can go further, we have to deal with stress and difficult emotions we encounter, both in meditation and in our daily life.
