New to Meditation or my approach to it?

There is no better way to learn to meditate than actually doing it. If you have 15 minutes to spare, check out my Audio page to find one of my audio recordings for a guided meditation on settling our body and mind into meditation.

Just a few things to take note for a more comfortable and enjoyable meditation:

Posture: choose a posture that fully supports your body, keeping it well-balanced and safe during the meditation. You can sit on a chair
with both feet firmly planted on the ground or lie on your back on a mat in the supine position.

Breathing: start with a few deep breaths and, as you breathe out, focus on the notion of release. Then, allow your breathing to settle into its natural rhythm.

Support: this is also known as the object of meditation. Think of it as something that you can come back and rest your attention on, from time to time. A good support to start with is the tactile sensations of your body resting in its posture.

Attention:
this is an important point--meditation is NOT about attaining absolute control over our mind or attention. Rest your attention on your meditation support. It is natural to find your attention wandering to thoughts, memories, judgments, etc., or drifting towards sleep. Now and then, you can choose to return your attention to your support and see what happens next.

After you have tried out the guided meditation, you can find more information on my page for this
effortless approach to meditation here.
